Aglomerados Cotopaxi (Ecuador)
Using Six Sigma Plus® the company raised its net profit in more than one million dollars.
Aglomerados Cotopaxi is the leading Ecuadorian manufacturer of MDF boards, exporting to Europe and the United States, besides selling to the internal market. The company initiated the implementation of Six Sigma in April, 2005, applying our Six Sigma Plus methodology, which adds to the traditional Six Sigma some very effective tools, such as Robust Engineering and TRIZ.
Qualiplus trained 24 "Six Sigma Green Belts " and 8 "Six Sigma Black Belts ". Until May, 2006, they had already implemented four improvement projects, which brought an increase of more than one million dollars to the net profit of the company and, in addition, avoided the purchase of a new machine worth US$ 1,000,000. And all that was done in a production line that already was working at 100% of the designed capacity. In summary, the company obtained a return of investment of 8:1, just in the first year.
“At Aglomerados Cotopaxi, the application of Six Sigma Plus in our improvement projects generated high impact results by means of drastic reductions in the variation of parameters that are keys to the satisfaction of our customers. In the whole company, we broke paradigms that were limiting us in the search of solutions to satisfy the real needs of the most important elements of the business."
